Signed and dated by the artist (7/12/96). 29.9x21.4cm. A striking image incorporating several recurring motifs in Ginsberg's iconography (skeleton in top hat, sunflower, shining sun, serpent biting its own tail). Elaborate drawings were sometimes used by Ginsberg to embellish presentation copies of his books, especially later on when larger book formats than the City Lights Pocket Poets series allowed more space, but individual works on separate sheets of paper such as this piece were normally reserved for friends. Fine.
