The R. Crumb Coffee Table Art Book.

London: Bloomsbury/ Kitchen Sink Press, 1997. First UK edition. Folio. Red paper-covered boards. 250pp. Edited and designed by Peter Poplaski. The first collection of the entire range of Crumb's work, lavishly reproduced in colour and b/w.

This copy has been SIGNED and inscribed by Crumb to Felix Dennis on the half-title page: "to FELIX DENNIS from R. CRUMB SAUVE, FRANCE Jan. 1st., 1998".

A superb association copy. Dennis frequently reprinted Crumb's work in Oz, most famously in the School kids issue, and in Cozmic Comics, the first issue of which features Crumb's 'Three Graces' on the front cover. He also adopted Crumb's pin-up, Honeybunch Kaminski, for the name of his publishing company, H. Bunch, and used it as the logo for his series of Cozmic Comics. Later, he collected original drawings by Crumb (one of which, the cover for 'Fritz the Cat', sold for an auction record of $717,000 in 2017), and in 2002 Dennis commissioned a giant bronze sculpture of the artist for his 'Garden of Heroes & Villains' in Dorsington.

Light bumps to two lower corners, o/w Near Fine in slightly edge-worn dw., with a short tear to top of front flap fold. Provenance: The Felix Dennis Estate.
