A first-hand document and contemporaneous analysis of the radical leftist Autonomia movement, featuring contributions from its main leaders and theorists, including Antonio Negri, Mario Tronti, Franco Piperno, Oreste Scalzone, Paolo Virno, Sergio Bologna, and Franco Berardi, most of whom were locked up in carceri speciali at the time. The movement was broken when Autonomia members were falsely accused of (and prosecuted for) being the intellectual masterminds of the Red Brigades (the charges were later dropped on appeal). Other contributors include Guy Debord, Félix Guattari, Judith Malina, Gilles Deleuze, and Dario Fo.
