GARY GILMORE MEMORIAL SOCIETY POSTCARD.

33.

GARY GILMORE MEMORIAL SOCIETY POSTCARD.

London: COUM Transmissions, [January] 1977. 9x14.7cm. Printed by Walkerprint Publicity Services. Autograph Postcard Signed from Jean-Pierre Turmel to "Yvon" (Yves Von Bontee, co-founder with Turmel of the Sordide Sentimentale record label), dated "18/12/78". Fine.

In English translation, the card reads: "Here are the two requested records in exchange for 5 'Raw War' that you said you might be able to order for me (in advance thanks!). Saw 'Pere Ubu' and above all 'Red Crayola' on stage. Superb! The new 33 of Throbbing Gristle, 'D.O.A.' has come out! It is much better than the first. As I see it, it's perhaps the best 33 of the year. I am going to try to order several copies, but without guarantee… it looks as if Genesis wants to avoid having 'money dealings' with me… so the best is probably that you order them yourself from Industrial Records, and to be perfectly sure from Rough Trade! (the 2000 copies will be sold VERY QUICKLY!) Best, Jean Pierre!" (translation courtesy of Catherine Petit).

Turmel started writing to Genesis P-Orridge in 1977 after hearing "Second Annual Report". He founded Sordide Sentimentale with Yves Von Bontee in 1978, and released Throbbing Gristle's "We Hate You (Little Girls)/Five Knuckle Shuffle" in May 1979. (Ford 7.5).
