Club du Châlet du Lac. The SEX PISTOLS.

Club du Châlet du Lac.

Original poster announcing the Sex Pistols at the Club du Châlet du Lac, Paris, 3rd September, 1976, the band's first foreign concert, and the first in which they wore the bondage suits designed by Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren. Screenprint. 78.5x54cm.

The poster was designed by Malcolm McLaren and features multiple images of a naked boy taken from a gay magazine, overlaid with the band's name in block lettering and a stencil of Glen Matlock's bass guitar. The design was first used for a T-shirt sold in McLaren's boutique, SEX, and appeared subsequently as a promotional poster for the Sex Pistols at the 100 Club (10th August, 1976), though it lacked any concert details. For their concert at the Châlet du Lac a few weeks later, venue information was added, along with a slogan proclaiming them as "London's Most Notorious Band".

Short, repaired tear to upper edge, o/w Fine. Conservation linen backed. One of only a tiny number extant.
