NY: Angel Hair Books, 1970. First edition. Sm. 4to. Stapled photographic wrps. (36pp.). Boldly SIGNED and inscribed by the author on the title page: "For Margaret With Love & 'Thanks' Joe". Brainard's first book, an assemblage of memories of growing up queer in Tulsa in the 1950s and his subsequent move to New York, pieced together from snippets and random thoughts, each of which begins with the incantation "I remember". One of 700 copies (from a total edition of 726). Slight rubbing and minor handling wear to wrappers, with very faint creasing to spine, o/w Near Fine. A cult classic, and an inspiration to many, including Georges Perec, who dedicated 'Je me souviens' to Brainard in 1978.
