The author's first book, containing verse originally published in Bristol in the student magazine, Vision. It reconfigures the myth of the lady and the unicorn, a restructuring and rearranging of the folk tale's characters in a way that Carter later explored in her reimagined fairy stories. Her career as a poet was short, concentrated between 1963 and 1966, but more recently her largely forgotten verse has been critically reappraised.
