FIRST RUSHES OF PIERO HELICZERS NEW FILM.

Small card flyer printing an announcement of a screening of a new (unnamed) film by Piero Heliczer at the Astor Play House, New York, Friday July 30, 1965. Printed in black on cream card on one side only. 14x12cm. Illustrated. Slightly creased and worn.

Verso bears the mailing address (typed by Piero) to "kate heliczer barbara rubin pam badyk" in London. Postmarked July 23, 1965.

Following her separation from Piero, Kate returned to London from New York in late April 1965, accompanied by Barbara Rubin, famously bringing with her some early demo tapes of The Primitives (pre-Velvet Underground). Rubin, who knew that Bob Dylan would be on the same flight, hoped that through him she could meet the Beatles and thus invite them to both star in and invest in her underground movie project, 'Christmas On Earth Continued'.

A week or so later, John Lennon invited Kate and Barbara to the Savoy Hotel, where they found him together with his wife, Cynthia, and Bob Dylan. Within days all four Beatles had received scripts, though it seems they expressed no interest in her film.
