CORRECTION MANA IS COOL!

SF: Communication Company, March 24, 1967. Original double-sided handbill. Printed in black on pale blue coloured stock. 28x21.5cm.

Prints a photo-illustration of Mana Pardeahtan holding one of his handpainted earthenware pots. The verso prints a retraction to an earlier broadside by Com/co decrying Pardeahtan as a police informer, correcting it with an accurate description of him as a member of The Native American Church.

Pardeahtan, who joined the Church in 1948, had recently been busted for possession of peyote (the favourite psychedelic before Owsley started making LSD), and the ensuing court case provided the foundation for the legalisation of the use of peyote in religious ceremonies in Colorado. The statement is co-signed in holograph facsimile by Michael Bowen (the Psychedelic Ranger) and by Walter Bowart, who had previously published articles on Pardeahtan in The East Village Other.

Three very faint brown marks, o/w Near Fine.
