The Seen. Stan BRAKHAGE.

The Seen.

SF: Zephyrus Image, 1975. First edition, first issue. 18mo. Saddle-stitched wrappers, with reflective mylar outer cover featuring a linocut by Michael Myers and smoky grey mylar unprinted inner cover, an effect creating what Alastair Johnson describes in his bibliography of the press as "a shimmering surface sheen that acted on the viewer's eyes like the minimalist film that inspired it." Unpaginated (32pp.).

The book, dedicated by Brakhage to Robert Duncan and Jess, prints his "Remarks following a screening of The Text of Light at the San Francisco Art Institute November 18, 1974". Its appearance the following Autumn prompted Brakhage to write to Zephyrus's co-publisher, Holbrook Teter, praising it as "easily the most beautiful book of all - most spectacularly light-like I've ever seen… completely took my breath!"

Lacks original envelope, o/w Fine.
