EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC CATALOGUE: VISUAL ANTHOLOGY.

London: EMC, 1974. 8vo. White printed wrps., 41pp.

An anthology of music scores by Gavin Bryars, Christopher Hobbs, Michael Parsons, and Greg Bright, dating from between 1968 and 1973, each one comprising a mix of written text and illustration or diagram.

The Experimental Music Catalogue was founded in 1968 by Christopher Hobbs with the intention of providing an outlet for new music by English experimental composers. Pieces were organised into generic anthologies, as here, or of individual composers' works, such as Cornelius Cardew's 'Piano Album 1974'. By 1972 Hobbs had ceded control to a committee, including himself, Gavin Bryars and Michael Nyman, the latter as artistic consultant, before publishing ceased sometime in the early 1980s.

Very Good plus.
