Toronto: The Coach House Press, 1973. First edition. Oblong 12mo. Wrps., 56pp.

SIGNED by Allen Ginsberg on the half-title page (undated), with the addition of his 'AH' mantra, and three lines crossed out in his hand on pages 14 and 18.

The first section of Ginsberg's long travelogue-style poem, part of "The Fall of America: Poems of These States" sequence, was partly modelled on Blaise Cendrars' poem about a journey through Russia on the Trans-Siberian Express in 1905, and it was written (in fact, dicated to tape and later transcribed) as he rode a train from the West Coast to Chicago, July 22, 1966. The second part takes place on a Greyhound bus.

The true first edition, preceding the more common City Lights edition. Fine. 1000 copies printed.
