Original programme for The Living Theatre's production of 'Beyond The Mountains', Kenneth Rexroth's verse adaptation of the Oresteia. NY: The Living Theatre, 1951. Textured decorated paper wrappers, stapled, 16pp.
Prints texts by Harold Norse ("The Poetic Theatre") and Paul Goodman ("Vanguard and Theatre"), both of whom had been introduced to Julian Beck by Tennessee Williams. Also includes a poem by Oscar Williams, along with notes on the play (directed by Julian Beck), and the cast list (Judith Malina played three different roles).
The Living Theatre's second production to be held in a full-sized theatre (viz. the Cherry Lane Theatre on Commerce Street in Greenwich Village; up until this point plays had been staged in their living room at 789 West End Ave.).
Small corner loss to lower wrapper near spine, and tiny nick, o/w Near Fine.
