SYLVESTER AND HIS HOT BAND AT THE PALACE.

An original handbill announcing Sylvester and The Hot Band at the Palace Theatre, San Francisco, January 1, 1973. Sepia toned, with photograph of Sylvester by Viva. 28x21.7cm.

Billed as "A Star's Homecoming! A New Years Eve Fete!", the packed out midnight show marked Sylvester's return to the Palace, the venue for his first solo show on January 15, 1971. He later told the Berkeley Barb: "I miss the Palace Theatre a whole lot because it was fabulous. It was the best thing that ever happened to me, and I think it was one of the best things to ever happen to San Francisco. I think the Cockettes were the biggest contribution to glitter in the history of the world, and all that's followed has been on a different plane."

Near Fine.
