A "highly personal account of one individual's evolution from innocent, suburban Johnny Purcell into fabulous, sophisticated Bambi Lake", taking in "San Francisco's queer salad days in the '70s" (gay communes, the Angels, Cockettes, Kaliflower) through to her work as a "chanteuse, stripper, actress, and spoken word artist."
Co-author Alvin Orloff was a member of the San Francisco homocore band, The Popstitutes (whose last gig was at a 'Smutfest' in London in 1994), and now manages Dog Eared Books Castro.
