TONIGHT WE IMPROVISE.

Original flyer announcing the opening of The Living Theatre's production of 'Tonight We Improvise' by Luigi Pirandello, November 6 (1959). NY: The Living Theatre, 1959. Printed in black on mustard colour paper stock, featuring artwork by Remy Charlip. 27.5x21.5cm.

The pseudo-improvisational structure of the play, first staged successfully by The Living Theatre in 1955, allowed actors to come in direct contact with the audience, "to awaken them from their passive slumber", a rupture of the fourth wall that later became their defining ethos.

Fine.
