Includes a chapter titled "The Living Theatre: Towards the Anarchist's Paradise", incorporating an essay by critic (and later dean of the Yale School of Drama) Robert Brustein ("The Third Theatre Revisited"), who invited the company to perform at Yale in September 1968 (their performance of 'Paradise Now' culminated in Beck, Malina, Pierre Devis, Nona Howard, Jenny Hecht, and five audience members being arrested and charged with indecent exposure).

Also includes contributions from Richard Schechner, Bertolt Brecht, RG Davis, Bern Porter, Herbert Blau (artistic director and co-founder of the Actor's Workshop in San Francisco), Antonin Artaud, Jerzy Grotowski, and many others.
