WEDDING ALBUM by John Ono Lennon & Yoko Ono Lennon.
NY: Apple Records, 1969. Boxed set LP record (SMAX-3361), complete with all inserts, as issued.
This US edition was released on October 20, 1969, preceding the British release by almost three weeks, and its elaborate package was designed by Apple Records' creative director, John Kosh, who also handled John and Yoko's 'War Is Over' campaign.
Contents as follows:
i) vinyl record in a gatefold sleeve;
ii) 20x4cm. photo-booth strip of John and Yoko (this example has two copies);
iii) postcard of John and Yoko during their Amsterdam Bed-In;
iv) 91.5x61cm. poster of wedding photographs;
v) 91.5x31cm. poster of lithographs by John and Yoko;
vi) 31cm. sq. white plastic bag with 'Bagism' printed on it;
vii) 30cm. sq. photograph of a piece of wedding cake (contained inside the plastic bag);
viii) 17pp. black cover booklet printing numerous press photographs and clippings relating to John and Yoko's wedding;
ix) a facsimile copy of the wedding certificate affixed inside the box's upper lid.
The record comprises two tracks, one per side. The first, 'John & Yoko', features an extended exchange in which John and Yoko call out each other's names, underscored with the sound of their heartbeats; the second, 'Amsterdam', was recorded during their Bed-In at the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel, March 25-31, 1969.
Vinyl and sleeve Mint; all inserts either Fine or Near Fine; the card box has a tiny graze at the upper edge of the lid but is otherwise Near Fine. An exceptional copy, rarely found complete and in such nice condition.
