GRAPEFRUIT.

London: Peter Owen, 1970. First British edition. 12mo. White cloth-covered boards in dustwrapper featuring a photograph of Yoko Ono by Iain Macmillan to upper and lower panels. 288pp. Introduction with two drawings by John Lennon. Publisher's printed review slip loosely inserted.

Oz editor/publisher Felix Dennis's copy, with his bookplate inside upper board. John and Yoko joined the fundraising effort for the Oz Defence Fund in 1971, participated in the protest march against the prosecution, and donated the proceeds from their Elastic Oz Band single, 'God Save Oz' (on which Dennis contributed percussion) to help pay the magazine's legal fees. After the trial had ended Lennon invited Dennis to stay at Tittenhurst Park, where he witnessed Lennon recording basic tracks for 'Imagine' in his home studio.

Very Good in somewhat rubbed and soiled dw. Provenance: The Felix Dennis Estate.
