Item #39142 Ecology. Ron COBB.

LA: Sawyer Press, 1969. Original poster, printed offset litho in black on tan-coloured textured stock. 57.4 sq. cm. SIGNED by the artist in the lower right corner.

Cobb's poster, which features his ecology symbol prominently in the centre, first appeared on the front cover of the November 7, 1969 issue of the Los Angeles Free Press, LA's underground paper to which he regularly contributed cartoons. The symbol was formed by combining the letter 'E' (for earth and environment) with the letter 'O' (representing wholeness and unity), forming a shape reminiscent of the Greek letter, Theta. Cobb's design subsequently found its way on to flyers, posters, badges, banners, patches and bumper stickers, and was later incorporated in the Ecology Flag (a green version of the US flag).

Minor edge-wear, o/w Fine.
