Fairfield's editorial states that from this issue on "The Modern Utopian will contain articles and information on intentional communities and communal living groups exclusively. There will be no materials on other subjects (other than book and record reviews) as in the past."
Contents include articles on the Twin Oaks Community (9pp.); Bay Area group marriage commune Harrad West; group dating; 3pp. on youth commune Greenfeel (item #38); "Utopias U.S.A.", 5pp. on utopian experiments; Feraferia, a 'Paradisal Sanctuary' and "religion based on Nature Celebration and incorporating ecology, the arts, mythopoeia, and the erotic", founded by Frederick Adams and based in Altadena, California (4pp.); plus reviews, letters, and ads.
