The Hippie Cookbook.
Forestville, CA: The Paisley Shawl Publishing Co., 1970. First edition. Oblong 16mo. Wrps. (no h/c issued), 111pp. Illustrated throughout with drawings, old engravings and half-tone photo-illustrations.
The book's introduction advises that the first thing to do is to plant a vegetable garden: "This will confuse the golphers [sic] and discourage your landlord from evicting you… Be sure to plant enough for bugs, birds and golphers, and enough to feed the commune." Recipes featured include "Psychedelic Hamburgers", "Alice's Mushrooms", "White Rabbit Carrot Cake", and "Good Karma Casserole".
The authors ran a hippie craft shop in the '60s called The Griffin Mind Shop in Forestville, Northern California. Near Fine.
