Ed. Dick Fairfield. 4to. 186pp. Illustrated throughout.

The first version of Fairfield's extended tour of nearly forty American communes, subsequently published in a revised edition by Penguin Books (item #109). The eight sections (which differ from the Penguin edition) include New Age Religious Communes (Lama Foundation, including an interview with Steve Durkee, formerly of USCO; Messiah's World Crusade [see item #39]; and six more); Ideological Communes (Nevada Coop Colony and three more); Group Marriage Communes (The Family, Harrad West, and two more); Hip-Psychedelic Communes (Drop City, Hog Farm, Libre, and five more); and Miscellaneous Communes (Synanon, Greenfeel, and five more). Also includes three bibliographies, including one devoted to the Oneida Community and another to Group Marriage.

Wrappers lightly rubbed, with a little superficial creasing; faint stain to lower edges; o/w Very Good plus.
