GREAT GAY IN THE MORNING! One Group's Approach to Communal Living and Sexual Politics By the 25 to 6 Baking & Trucking Society.

Washington, NJ: Times Change Press, 1972. First edition. 12mo. Blue cloth. 95pp.

One of an unknown number of clothbound copies rediscovered by the publisher a few years after its initial publication (most were issued in softcover), with the publisher's new address printed on a small label pasted over the old address on the copyright page and a newly-designed dustwrapper added. Illustrated with a cartoon by Robert Crumb and several photographs, four of them by Ellen Shumsky, former member of the Lavender Menace, co-author of the lesbian feminist manifesto 'The Woman-Identified Woman', and sister of former Beat Hotel resident, Thelma Shumsky.

The book was written collectively by nine gay people, two lesbians and seven gay men, who lived in a commune on Staten Island, among them the author and publisher Larry Mitchell, whose 1982 novel, 'The Terminal Bar', is considered to be the first book of fiction to address HIV/AIDS. Includes two sections written by the Red Faerie Collective, "the name used by the gay men in the house".
