The 'Whole Earth Jamboree 1968-1978' issue, featuring transcripts from most of the fifty-seven five-minute speeches given at the event by, among others, Michael McClure, Gregory Corso, David Meltzer, Paolo Soleri, Lewis MacAdams, Peter Coyote, Paul Krassner, Anne Herbert (her reaction to the Jamboree is printed separately), Mountain Girl, Jay Kinney, Wavy Gravy, Gilbert Shelton, John Michell, and Stewart Brand, plus photographs by Larry Keenan and others featuring several of the cast members, including Brand, Wavy Gravy, Mimi Fariña, Paolo Soleri, Allen Ginsberg (who read from 'Plutonian Ode'), Peter Orlovsky, Gregory Corso, Peter Coyote, Paul Krassner, Gilbert Shelton, and Marc LeBrun.
The event, held in the Golden Gate National Recreation area north of San Francisco in late August 1978, was conceived by Stewart Brand as a celebration of a decade of countercultural cross-pollination and the Whole Earth Catalog in particular (his 8pp. account of its organisation, "Battle over the Whole Earth Jamboree", appears on p.90).
