CHANGE/1. Detroit: Artists' Workshop Press, Fall/Winter 1965.

Ed. John Sinclair and Charles Moore. 4to. Card wrps., mimeographed sheets, stapled. 78pp. + 6pp. insert (music notation) + 16pp. insert + 2pp. insert (photographs) + fold-out petition. Cover photograph of Archie Shepp by Magdalene Arndt Sinclair.

Intended to provide "a forum for the new music", Change was slated by its editors to have four issues, but only one further number followed, in Spring 1966.

Contributors include Jim Semark, Dave Sinclair, George Tysh, Joe Pinelli, Mort Maizlish, the editors and others, with reviews of concerts and records by Ornette Coleman, Charles Mingus, Steve Lacy, John Coltrane, Archie Shepp and Cecil Taylor, Pharaoh Sanders, Albert Ayler, Wayne Shorter, and Eric Dolphy, among others.

Contents also include a 10pp. homage to Sun Ra, featuring statements and poems by him and reviews of his records (incl. by Marion Brown).

The stencils were prepared by John Sinclair and the printing was done by Magdalene Sinclair in an edition of probably no more than 1000 copies. Small losses to lower left corner of upper wrapper; lower wrapper detached from staples (frequently the case with AWP productions as their stapler was hard-pressed to cope); o/w Very Good plus.
