The first edition of this important pamphlet, asserting that political false consciousness is found in its purest state in the student, the most alienated of all sociological categories, and whose belief in his own independence is entirely illusory. This contemptuous critique by the Tunisian Situationist Mustapha Khayati fanned the flames of the 'Strasbourg University Scandal', and later, after being reprinted and distributed in Paris, inspired the revolt at Nanterre in April-May 1968.
