Written as a homework project by 14-year-old Gideon Sams and now regarded as the first punk novel, 'The Punk' was published in an edition of 500 copies by Jay Landesman's short-lived Polytantric Press. Landesman subsequently sold the rights to Corgi, who issued it later in the same year in a slightly smaller format and with a different cover image and no safety pin.

The author, stepson of Craig Sams (who set up the first macrobiotic restaurant in England), died aged 26 in Greenwich Village.

Minor wear and light creasing. Overall, Very Good plus, with publisher's original safety pin.
