Collects eleven compositions by Tatro, each one orchestrated by him, featuring soloists Lennie Niehaus on alto sax, Bill Holman on tenor and Shelly Manne on drums.

Tatro played tenor sax with Stan Kenton while still in his teens, studied with Arthur Honegger and Darius Milhaud in Paris, and led jazz bands in Europe in the late 1940s. He returned to the US in the 1950s and released 'Jazz For Moderns', his first album. Later he became a prolific composer for TV shows, including Mission: Impossible and Hawaii Five-0, incorporating many of the compositional techniques he had learned in Europe.
