Whisper: A Timescript.

London: Whisper Promotions, 1971. First edition. 8vo. Black leather-covered boards, stamped in gilt with the author's design on the front and a central spot on the back intended to represent a tab of Orange Sunshine. According to Barritt, the black leather and gold cover was designed to resemble a passport (though it doesn't); later copies were issued with a dustwrapper to help confused booksellers. 128pp. Illustrated throughout with the author's line drawings and sigils.

SIGNED presentation copy to Barry Mason, founder of the Psychedelic Shamanistic Institute (of which Barritt was an associate): “To Barry with great love and appreciation and for helping to keep the Pot tradition going upwards to ever greater heights. [signed] 98” [embellished with ink drawings of three small symbols].

A personal journal and psychedelic document written by drug pusher and hashish eater Brian Barritt (with the help of New Society journalist David Ball), and smuggled out of jail over the period November 1966 to September 1969. Also contains “The Wanderers”, a postscript by Timothy and Rosemary Leary, dated March 1971 (Barritt spent some time with Leary in Algeria during 1971; the Learys also supplied the epigraph).

Near Fine.
