Includes “The Pot Smokers”, Lenny’s spoof on marijuana users, and other routines.
The book was originally distributed for a concert by Lenny in San Francisco, after which he was arrested on obscenity charges. Believing that the four-letter words in the book may be used against him in court, he asked Lawrence Ferlinghetti to destroy the copies he was distributing. Most of them were destroyed, but some copies had the supposedly offensive words overstruck with typed x’s, as here (later, he suppressed the publication altogether).
