The Pope Smokes Dope.

(NY): Orange Peel Publishing Co., nd. (1994). CD (ORA 79418). Promotional copy, ‘Broadcast Version’. Inlay card reprints a brief interview with John Lennon on David Peel.

Peel's third album, produced by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, both of whom contribute backing vocals. Lennon was introduced to Peel by Howard Smith and Jerry Rubin soon after moving to New York, once briefly singing with him on the streets of the Lower East Side, before being moved on by the police. The encounter, and Peel’s philosophy of the street, attracted Lennon and led to the recording of the album released on Apple in 1972, an original flyer for which is included.
