No. 36 in a series of letters Weil wrote to the Institute of Current World Affairs, which sponsored his journeys in search of consciousness-altering plants. This paper concerns MDA, “known as the love drug in the American subculture” (it has some similarities to LSD and MDMA). Weil’s reports, which first appeared in 1972 and concluded shortly after the one here, became the basis for his 1981 book, “The Marriage of the Sun and the Moon”.
