Acid Rescue was one of many crisis hotlines set up in major cities across the US following the rapid increase in the use of drugs among young people in the late 1960s (Current, the Missouri-St. Louis’ University newspaper, reported that “the majority of trippers calling Acid Rescue are between 14 and 17.”).
