FREE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA. A two-column article on the Free University of California in LOS ANGELES FREE PRESS #79 (January 21, 1966) + qtr. page ad. (plus two further issues).
The Free University of California began “as a ‘teach-out’ conducted by Lawrence Lipton when his Avant-Garde Writing Class was cancelled at UCLA Extension as a result of Ultra-Right Wing pressures”.
The article describes the courses offered in its second term, taught by Lipton and poet John Thomas. One of them, titled “The New Morality and the Sexual Revolution”, consisted of “lectures on the new sexways of America”.
