ANARCHY #73 (London: Freedom Press, March 1967).

8vo. Stapled wrps., 32pp.

Prints Pete Jenner’s article, “The London Free School” (4pp.), first published in the second issue of Resurgence magazine (July/August 1966). In it, Jenner outlines the original impetus for the London Free School, the reasons for choosing Notting Hill as its location, the aims and intentions for the school, and the limited success following its first public meeting: “Nothing had been properly planned and, what was worse, hardly anyone from the district came to the classes… there were two important successes, however, one was a playgroup for children and the other was an embryonic teenage group”.

Jenner himself lobbied the GLC for an open space for a playground (which was granted on land cleared on Acklam Road for the construction of the Westway), and wrote letters to the press to publicise and garner support for the LFS, including to Paul Johnson at the New Statesman.

Very Good.
