“Britain’s Black Powerhouse: Michael X” by David Knox in LIFE Atlantic Vol. 43, #8 (Amsterdam: Time-Life International, October 16, 1967).

A largely sympathetic 10pp. feature, well illustrated with b/w photographs by Terence Spencer, including one of Michael X “clutching a copy of The Rebel by Camus”; a shot of him on the platform alongside Stokely Carmichael at the Dialectics of Liberation conference; and portraits of Terry X, Brother Winston, Frankie Dymon (aka Frankie Y), Roy Sawh, and Brother Alan (Alan Marcuson, later the editor of Friends, and later still a carpet and textile dealer, or ‘rug dealer’).

Also: book review of “The Beautiful People” by Marilyn Bender; Che Guevara in Bolivia (4pp.); more.

Very Good plus.
