SIGNED and inscribed by Chris Wróblewski on the title page (dated 1984), and with a signed and inscribed postcard laid in reproducing a colour photograph by him of ‘Val’, one of the tattooed subjects featured in the book.

A photographic study of youth tribes in the UK and Europe between 1977 and 1982 by British photographer Chris Wróblewski and French photographer Nelly Gommez-Vaëz. Opening with an epigraph by anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss, and with sections devoted to Mohicans, Skinheads, Rock and Roll, Sons of Hell, Leather, Sic Boys, Dress, and Rasta, their intention was to draw comparisons between contemporary subcultures and ancient native tribes through the influences of body adornment, hairstyle and fashion. Each photo-portrait is set against a graphic design by Martin Knox, interspersed with short quotes from Jeff Nuttall, Hunter S. Thompson, Ted Polhelmus/Lynn Procter, and Peter York.

Near Fine.
