The Dancers Inherit the Party.
Worcester, England/Ventura, California: Migrant Press, second edition, 1962 (first published November 1960 in an edition of 200 copies). Illustrated green wrps., stapled, 36pp. Mimeographed text printing 35 poems with lino-cut illustrations by Zeljko Kujundzik (this edition has a different woodcut as frontispiece).
The second edition of the author’s second book and first poetry collection. This copy briefly inscribed on the dedication page by Stuart Montgomery - “love Stuart”; the word ‘Migrant’ on the title page has also been crossed out, probably by Montgomery. Montgomery’s Fulcrum Press later published a new edition in hardcover which led to a bitter dispute with Finlay, making the copy here a historically charged artifact.
A few stray spots to slightly corner-creased wrappers, o/w Very Good, at least. 300 copies printed.
Accompanied by the publisher’s original announcement for the book, stapled together with a contemporary printed essay by Migrant Press contributing editor, Michael Shayer (2pp.), and ‘Migrant Press: bibliographical history’, a folding card printed by the Migrant Press outlining their history and details of their publications to date (1965).
