London: Writers Forum (WF Quartos No. 2), October 1966. First edition. 4to. Stapled wrps., duplicated and offset litho, with cover design and endpaper by Bob Cobbing. Cobbing also edited the book, which was issued at the time of Group H’s thirty-sixth exhibition held at the Drian Galleries near Marble Arch between October 5-23, 1966.
Seventeen members of Group H each contribute a page, among them John Latham; Barry Flanagan; Jeff Nuttall; Criton Tomazos; Islwyn Watkins; Jeff Cloves; Franciszka Themerson; Bob Cobbing; Jennifer Pike; John Rowan; Kenneth Swain; Hannah Swain; and Gabi Weissmann.
Introduction by John Rowan (the second edition, produced in 1969, reprints the review of the show that had originally appeared in the first issue of International Times instead). In it he describes the origins of Group H in the Hendon Experimental Art Club, formed in 1951, and this copy of the book is accompanied by two mimeographed programmes from the Hendon Film Society (May and December 1956), a mimeoed letter signed by Bob Cobbing and Stuart Montgomery introducing the Association of Little Presses, which they co-founded in July 1966, and its Bulletin No. 3 (April 1967).
All four documents are creased, torn and worn, especially the letter, which bears scattered ink notes in an unknown hand, including the names of the poet-publishers Michael Shayer and Andrew Crozier. The book itself, first editions of which are quite scarce, is in Very Good plus condition.
