Flyer announcing ‘The Ying Yang Uprising Present A Three Day Jamboree at the Arts Lab…. In first steps towards Save Earth Now’, November 3rd-5th (1967).
Quarto, printed in black on white stock, recto only.
States that “War, hatred, famine, evil, jealousy must be replaced by friendship, love, understanding and good will… This three day non-conference will contain games, laughter, music, poetry, people, dance, smiles and food… Plant seeds for non stop explorations. Out of space be warned Save Earth Now”.
The event was announced in IT #20 and the flyer is illustrated in London’s Arts Labs and the 60s Avant-Garde (p.28), in which David Curtis writes: “November opened with The Ying Yang Uprising… an early manifestation of Jack’s pursuit of universal love and Jim’s very comparable belief that all one needed to do was to bring people together… It promised the participation of a good round-up of current underground celebrities including Miles, Michael X, Lee Harris, Caroline Coon, Ted Joans, Richard Neville, Mick Farren, Colin MacInnes, Horace Ové and more (though what they would individually contribute was far from clear).”
