41.
Schedule for the Arts Lab Cinema, October 1970.
Single sheet folded three times to make a leaflet. Printed in black on white stock (25.4x35cm. unfolded). Illustrated. Designed by Biddy Peppin.
The month began with a programme of films from California, including Michael Weise and Steven Arnold’s b/w short, ‘Messages Messages’ (1968) and William Moritz’s ‘Gertrude Stein Film’; followed by films by Hans Richter and Peter Kubelka, then a series of films by English filmmakers, James McBride’s 1967 film, ‘David Holtzman’s Diary’, films by Barbara Schwartz and Al Deval (“who caused a sensation at the NFT with his spontaneous Chairman Mao/heart operation event”), and ‘Underground Classics’ by Ron Rice and Taylor Mead.
The final section reprints Simon Hartog’s review of the Arts Lab cinema from Time Out (August 20th, 1970), and an announcement of “The Arts Lab’s Birthday Party Free Films among many other attractions” on October 4th (original invite also included with this copy).
