Love Is Psychic Capitalism.

A small broadside by Heathcote Williams illustrated with numerous photographs of naked male models. Printed in black and purple on white stock. 24x33cm.

The anaphoric text (each line except the final one begins with the word ‘Love’) was not published in either magazine or book form until its appearance in “Manifestoes/Manifesten” in 1974 (item #74). The term ‘Psychic Capitalism’ was coined by Williams and he applied it quite widely, in particular in relation to the the effects of new technology and the mass media. Here he references Valerie Solanas’s S.C.U.M. (the Society for Cutting Up Men) as well as his preoccupation with the use of electro-shock therapy.

Several brown stains to verso, with partial bleed through to recto; faint vertical and horizontal creases; o/w Good. Scarce.
