Ruff Tuff Creem Puff Estate Agency.
Two mimeographed flyers produced by the free agency established by Heathcote Williams to match squatters with abandoned buildings, together with a typed note by him and a copy of the only issue of The Sunday Head.
i) You’re never alone with a jemmy. Single foolscap mimeographed sheet printed recto and verso, c. 1974. Lists a number of empty homes, including three villas in Amesbury just “acquired by the Wallies of Stonehenge”, and several in London, including three flats on Ladbroke Crescent which Williams has annotated with the word “Got!” in red. The flyer also illustrates a triangular symbol with three circles “being put up in spray paint outside empty properties available for occupation by anyone…”. Old central vertical and horizontal folds, o/w Very Good;
ii) Ruff Tuff Creem Puff Estate Agency Bulletin Number 14 - Squat Now While Stocks Last. Single foolscap mimeographed blue paper sheet printed recto and verso, c. May 1975. Lists the addresses of several vacant properties in London, with brief descriptions, as well as “four Ex-Police houses and a Police station, in Farnborough, Hampshire” containing “8 cells. Suit fladge booth tycoons, meat tenderisers, or a Miss Whippy Parlour”. A total of 23 bulletins were produced by Williams’s service, which ran from 1974 to 1977 (it was through Ruff Tuff that Freston Road was first squatted). Its name was borrowed from Robert Crumb’s Ruff-Tuff Cream-Puffs, with an additional nod to Wat Tyler and the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381. Old central vertical and horizontal folds and slight staining, o/w Very Good;
iii) Typed note by Heathcote Williams to verso of unused cover from The Sunday Head, c. 1974/75. 130 words. Though not stated, it was sent to Bill Levy in Amsterdam (“Just preparing Wat Tyler Estate Agents… lists of all available empty properties… cd you send anywhere you know of in A’dam.. Max Fisher’s house?”). Old folds and creasing, o/w Very Good;
iv) The Sunday Head (London: August 1974), see item #70. Slight wear at staples, o/w Very Good.
