The Abdication of Queen Elizabeth the Second. “The Truth about My Mother” H.R.H. Prince Charles.
No place (Notting Hill): no pub. (Open Head Press), nd. (1976). First softover edition. 8vo. Wrps., 8pp. (uncut), gathered by a black tassel string, with a sheet of handmade Japanese lace paper bound in. Text printed in black, red and green inks.
Holograph note from Heathcote Williams loosely inserted: “for Bill Levy, who cunningly suggested getting Ms. Battenburg to do some P.R. for the paperback version, from the author + printer August ’76.”
At one point Williams’s satire was read out as a news item on a pirate radio station (Rebel Radio), causing the police to cordon off the street from which the transmission was being made and leading to seven arrests.
Wrappers slightly age-toned, with a few spots to upper panel.
Loosely inserted is the author’s “Fuckingham Palace Frolicks”, a postcard featuring his satirical caricatures of Royal members fucking one another, originally published privately in an edition of 200 copies in Paris in 1970 (illustrated in Suck #8 and Ins and Outs #3).
