ANARCHY IN THE U.K. No. 1.

London: Glitterbest Ltd., (December) 1976 (all published). Tabloid format (12pp.), printed offset litho on newsprint by Zigzag magazine.

The Sex Pistols’ fanzine, put together by Jamie Reid, Sophie Richmond and Vivienne Westwood, featuring Ray Stevenson’s photograph of Soo Catwoman on the front cover and the first appearance in a punk context of Jamie Reid’s situationist-inspired ‘Nowhere’ bus on the back.

Also contains other graphics by Reid, Stevenson’s photographs of the Pistols (together with many of those around the band, including Debbie Wilson, who worked in Seditionaries), and a special page by Vivienne Westwood. The magazine was intended for distribution during the Anarchy tour and envisaged as a visual identity for the fans, but the projected second issue never materialised.

Age toning to newsprint; old central horizontal fold, with slight wear to fore-edge; 1cm. closed tear to upper right edge of front cover and tiny lower edge-tear to last two pages; o/w Very Good (stored flat).
