A collection of 18 separate stories, begun in March 1967 and completed in August 1969, though only a small amount was selected for the published edition. Written in a more orthodox style than his earlier novels, the book still uses the cut-up method, particularly in the recurring section “The Penny Arcade Peep Show”, which is repeatedly folded-in and cut up.
