SIGNED and inscribed by the author on the title page: “For Allen De Loach William Burroughs”.
The book is a collection of pieces taking its title from a section of “The Soft Machine”, including cut-up and three-column style texts (“Who Is the 3rd…?”, “The Last Post Danger Ahead”, and “From a Distant Hand Lifted”), originally published in little literary magazines such as Gnaoua, Spero, Underground Telegram, Kulchur, Arcade, Lines, Bulletin from Nothing, and Birmingham Bulletin. Also includes a piece by Alan Ansen, and Paul Bowles’s essay, “Burroughs In Tangier”.
The cover photograph shows the office building of “Licensed Exterminators”, located at the corner of Allen and Canal streets in Chinatown, NYC (a short walk from Burroughs’ old loft at 210 Centre Street).
