The Sight of Silence: John Cage’s Complete Watercolors.

A complete presentation of all 125 watercolours created by John Cage at the Mountain Lake Workshop in Virginia between 1983 and 1990, each of them based on his method of chance operations, along with many examples of his other visual art works, scores, and documentary photographs of him at work. In addition, Ray Kass, co-founder of the Mountain Lake Workshop, provides a critical essay and workshop diaries that relate Cage’s visual art to his musical compositions and theatre work.
An accompanying DVD contains a ‘live’ view of John Cage at work, demonstrations of workshop procedures, along with a student percussion ensemble performance of one of his pieces for prepared piano, and Cage performing two readings and leading a long Q&A.
