A chapbook consisting of quotes from Bukowski on writing, humour, women and sex, cats, Céline, psychiatry, Hollywood and ‘Barfly’, death, loneliness and pain, among other subjects.
Issued with a CD featuring a recording of Bukowski made in 1970 by Robert Head and Darlene Fife in New Orleans at a benefit reading for their underground newspaper, Nola Express, which ran Bukowski’s syndicated column, “Notes of a Dirty Old Man”.
One of the tracks originally appeared in 1971 in the first issue of Jim Haynes’s Cassette Gazette (inspiring Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s City Lights to publish Bukowski), and the complete recording was later issued as a Cassette Gazette Special by Haynes in 1985.
